He's a GENIUS.
This is the epitome of the true American entrepreneur. See a need, fill a need.
I think it's going to catch on like crazy. He may end up having to lower his prices in order to compete, but I applaud him for having the idea and implementing it.
The real question now is will the lawmakers understand why this man is making so much money? He's taking advantage of something that's broken.

The fellow was certainly creative, and I can see why his remarkably simple idea would sell. But mostly I see it as a sign of the times and symptomatic of the failure of our species to deal with the underlying problem. Traffic jams in various parts of the world have gotten worse and worse over time and in the U.S. in particular you'll find that the vast majority of vehicles in the mix are operated by lone drivers and that their MPG is somewhere around 20. In some eyes that might create opportunities for a new industry of "traffic jam drivers." I might be less creative than that, but I see the traffic mess as an indicator of some very bothersome problems--such as having too many people and too few who care about the health of their home planet. In my lifetime, the population of the world has quadrupled and the impact of burning fossil fuels has resulted in environmental problems ranging from natural habitat degradation to global warming. We, as a species, are capable of doing far better. Rather than fighting wars over oil or further despoiling our Mother Earth, we need to make better choices about things ranging from conservation and energy alternatives to the more efficient use of mass transit and the control of our numbers. It doesn't take some phenomenal level of intellect to come to such conclusions. All we have to do is look forward in time, see the pending impacts of our erroneous ways and care enough about our world and our descendants to do the right thing. Outstanding opportunities truly flourish in the areas of stewardship, environmental technology, etc., and we, as a species, are fully capable of seizing them. Incidentally, just so you know I really try to practice what I "preach," I've been driving an Ultra Low Emission Hybrid car for six years now which gets more than 70 MPG...and it's proved to be a very good investment. So, as for the traffic jam driver, I applaud his creativity but I hope his area of employment is short-lived.

It's great while it lasts. If he's accurate in what he's clearing, that means between $25K and $75K per year for working 2-3 hours per day. That still leaves time for another job, so long as it's one with flexible hours.
Of course, make sure you don't get in the car with a maniac.
