In school we were taught to study hard and work towards that all important "Job". We were never taught about business and how to leverage our time or build residual income.
What I know now is that owning and operating a small business gives you tax write-offs as well as leverage and residual income. I spent all those years working to make others rich only to find out that your job can be wiped out in a second.
Had I known then what I know now I would have started building a business at a very young age while working to pay the bills.
I have since taught my children the importance of having their own business which they are building while working at their chosen careers.
Through working, residual income and leverage, they will never have to go through the hard times that I did.

I would have definately stayed in college instead of going to work full time in a factory. I graduated in 1990 and was entering my first semester when my mother got laid-off from her job. I knew my parents couldn't afford to help me so I decided to get a job, put college on hold and try and help them. Man, did they get ticked at me! My mom argued with me for months that I should have stayed in school and that we'd get by but no, I was stubborn. Lol, now 16 years, and 3 great kids later, I'm back in college and will be graduating next spring. I can only guess at how much easier my life and raising my kids would have been if I'd had listened to my mom and stayed in college. I guess hind sight is 20/20!

I wouldn't have wasted the $80,000 I inherited and bought a house with it. I'd be set just by owning my house now. Could only work part time just to pay bills if I wanted. Could save up for a wicked retirement fund if I worked full time. Life would be soooo much better.
