Being Jewish is something that flows down history through the mother. In interfaith or interacial marriages involving those of the Jewish faith, the standard is that if your Mother was Jewish, then you are, too. So all it would take to make a Black Jew would be for the mother to marry or procreate with a person of that racial heritage.

Yes. I have met black Israelis. Besides, I understand there are countries in Africa where Judaism is present. In particular, Ethiopia has a recognized Judaic community and some of them have immigrated to Israel upon its creation.

I found this in wikipedia:

African Jew has a variety of meanings:

* Scattered African groups who have not historically been part of the international Jewish community, but who claim ancestry to ancient Israel or other connections to Judaism and who practice Jewish rituals or those bearing resemblance to Judaism. Of these, only the Beta Israel of Ethiopia are generally recognized as Jews by the international Jewish community. The Lemba have much stronger DNA evidence than the Beta Israel to link them to the main body of the Jewish people.
* Sephardi Jews and Mizraḥi Jews living in North Africa, especially in Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia although many of these have now emigrated, mostly to Israel and France, with substantial numbers also emigrating to Canada and the USA
* The Jews of South Africa, who are mostly Ashkenazi Jews, descended from pre-Holocaust immigrant Lithuanian Jews.

yes, i am. there were "black hebrews" from the west indies, brazil and other countries. My great-great- grand father was jewish, with the others being from jamaica. It's sad the some people think black people only come from Africa, however, that is the only thing that is publicized as to where we are actually from. but yes, there is such a thing.

Yes, Whoopi Goldberg is supposedly a converted Jew.

However, a lady I know that left her war-torn country near Angola and then was raised in Angola informed me once that the beautiful women in Ethopia are of of Jewish ancestry, hence the reason they all look so different from some other countries in that Continent.

Absolutely. Religion and race aren't neccessarily one and the same. You can have black jews, white muslims, and asian catholics. People here in America, and in other developed nations, are free to practice the religion they choose, regardless of race.
