"No matter how we behave we will still die one" Do you think it is a good reason to be careless in life?

Only you can answer this question my friend. Do you want to have gone through life accomplishing nothing but pleasure or do you want to go through life knowing that you made a difference? Who is to say which direction is best for each of us? Cannot we go through life leaving behind a legacy of making this world better and yet having enjoyed it?

Personally I think that I have been able to not necessarily lead a life of carelessness, but having explored and enjoyed life while still doing some good for others and knowing I have made the lives of others better.

Yes, in the end we all die, but when I die, people will still hopefully remember me for the good that I did or why their life was better for knowing me. Had I just been self-centered and as you put it "careless" and carefree in life I doubt I would be missed.

We all have will and we all have choice. How do you want to be remembered when you die?

Everything has an end, life too.
The certainty of death can be seen also in the other way: If I have to die, then I will do from my life the best and try to leave something to be remembered.
That's the way I see life after having being present in the precise moment that people were dying. Every moment you have is a treasure that will never be repeated, not one less minute but one more chance to be happy and give the best from you.
Depending on your belief, then you may see life also different.
Regardless the people who are postponing every pleasure in life with the aim to obtain a better space in Paradise, being a good and responsible person goes further .
Is a personal decision that might change your life, giving to a senseless existence the warm feeling that in our mortality there is still a lot to be done. Relieving emotional or physical pain to others is just one example. Writing a good book that becomes timeless; another.
It is up to you to find out which is the sense of your life.

i actually adamantly hate that philosophy, my sister and my friend uses that, and it disgusts me. its okay to be careless in other ways, like being clumsy or nonchalant about how other people perceive you but not in the matters of living. We will die anyways, that is true. but would you not want to die leaving a legacy that can be described as a great life that is well-spent, happy, good and probably philantropic. Wouldn't you want to die knowing that you did your best in a life that is given to you for a moment in time? Life sucks, **** happens but we are here now, we know better so we should do something that matters, something with weight. I know being good or bad is relative, but whatever path you choose, you should make a difference. so you can say in the end, that your life has been fruitful.

If on January 1st you had the option to be the happiest person alive for this day - have everything you ever desired; luxuries, wealth, status, health, all your loved ones with you, etc..but had to live the remaining 364 days in complete misery, sickness and poverty, OR live January 1st as the most miserable day in your life, everything bad that could ever happen to anyone happened to you on this day, but you would enjoy everlasting bliss for the remaining 364 days of the year, which would you choose? You are living your January 1st right now, the choice that you make now will affect your destinity in eternity.

We all have different definitions of 'careless' don't we? I just want to die knowing that my contribution has been positive, not negative.

what?! Life is life and death is death. death is not a punishment. Just because we are all going to die doesn't mean we should waste our life.
