So, yes I've been playing for over a year and all of the time I've been using a pick but I think it would be a lot easier just to play with my fingerss. Can anyone tell me how? Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. =] Thanks.

It's just going to take practice. I would recommend that you set your strap higher, most bass players who play with a pick tend to set their strap very low. It'll be more comfortable if you set your bass higher (it'll take some getting used to) and you'll find that you'll be more faster. By putting down your picks, you're going to get more versatile. The more versatile you are, the more gigs you'll get. You won't feel comfortable with this over night. The best thing I can also tell you is to practice scales. This will help with the coordination between both hands. Start slow at first, get a metronome if you can. And in time, you can go faster and faster. Don't settle for sloppiness, but try to be a perfectionist. If you take the time to practice, it won't take long and you'll be a lot better bass player. Don't practice with your thumb, but use your thumb as a rest on the bass....like rest it on the top of your pick guard. It'll anchor your hand, and you can use your fingers to pick the strings. You may have to adjust your EQ a little. But I think you'll like the end result. Eventually, I would recommend you practice popping and tapping, the funk bass thing. Remember, versatility is the thing you want. Best of luck to you.
