What little things do you do each day or frequently that help you save money?

Stop spending anything else than cash - with the least exceptions possible.

Start a list you note all your daily spendings - not every cent but everything that costs USD 5 or above (like: shopping 70, eating out 25, cinema with friend 30).

Figure out all regular spending you usually don't take decisions - like any kind of magazines, newspapers or web access to "anything".

Don't buy anything for the car or the appartment not really needed - every cent spent is lost, as it never will add as much value as you spend.

Buy something to cut your hair yourself - or find friends to do it for each other. Try not to use any kind of services.

Good luck!

Never pay retail! Many items can be bought online for less, some can't. Do some price comparison. Buy refurb if the price is significantly less. End of season is great for electronics, printers PC's cameras. Amazon.com & eBay are also good. I got $150 camera new, but open for $40, a $150 photo printer for $50. If items are on sale, check back every 30 days to see if it's less. I bought an electronic item, Originally $90, for $79. 30 days later it was still on sale, but now it was $50. I now saved $40 over the original price by returning & rebuying it. (Some stores will refund the difference). I bought 2 new printers online for $0 each. They were on sale, and had a rebate = to what I paid. Post Christmas is a good time for printers.

We tend to eat at home a lot more than out. I plan meals around sale ads. I clip coupons. We do errands all at once so we don't use as much gas. We turn the thermostat 78-80 in the summer and 66 in the winter. I try to find any way to save money. I like a lot of the responses you received and I will have to check some of those sites out.

Avoid things you really don't need. If you do have extra money save it somewhere so if something happens later, you have something to fall back on.

Stay home. Eat from food purchased at market - not restaurant. Rent movies. Read books!
Buy second hand - books, music, etc.

There 2 sites I love:

http://www.lastminute-auction.com which is basicly the bargain bin of Ebay. Lastminute Auction lists up to 20000 auctions at one dollar with only one hour left. Please pay attention to S&H!

and

http://www.mrdealio.com this site lets you track prices of your favorit products ... also receive email alerts when prices changes.

I keep saying to myself, "I'll get it next time."
Of course this only helps if you're looking to be a self-made martyr.
