128 Mb? hmm.. is that enough memory to even run WinXP?...
If you want something faster... get a desktop... 2.8Ghz, 2Gb memory, 140Gb HD... they sell for about $800 in some places

your laptop is so old.
somethings are just old and slow
you need a new computer
there are some people with computer 5 time faster than yours and still think that there computers are so slow.
If you want it to work better use windows 98 or Me instead of XP it's better for your laptop.
by the way you can't upgraded that much to make it faster.

try to get some more RAM, look into atleast 512MB, if not 1GB. Your system seems a few years old so I can't say how much you would be able to install.
It depends what you want to do but buying a new desktop for around $500-600, or a newer laptop for around $700-900 you could probably double your speed if not faster.

UN-install any software programs that you are not using in control panel, add and remove programs. Then do a "Defrag" , tic on My Computer, right tic on your "C-drive" select "Properties" and tic on "Tools" and then tic on the "Defragment" button. Then go to Crucial.com and use their tool to determine what memory type that you need for your computer. Copy,or print the info out. Buy the memory at newegg.com, or tigerdirect.com whoever has the lower cost. Get at least 512MB of memory, any less your computer will run slooooow! Windows minimum memory requirement is 128MB, remember that's the MINIMUM! That is one reason why it is so slow. Another is adware, viruses, and spyware. To rid your computer of these get : AVG Anti-Virus from Grisoft (Free), Ad-Aware from Lavasoft(Free), Spy-bot Search and Destroy from download.com(Free), and Windows Defender Beta 2 Ver. from Microsoft(Free). Update them right away and keep them updated, then run them frequently. Your new computer will run fast and smooth!

hi, with regards to your specifications, it is better to have Windows 98/ME on this notebook. Having WindowsXP is a terrible torture for this sweet notebook. But before installing Windows 98/ME, please check if all the notebook relevant software drivers are supplied together with the computer? Please let us know your notebook model, and the other users will have a better understanding :) - chip

you will need more RAM. 64MB RAM is the minimum for windows xp if you want it to go really slow. I would recommend upgrading the RAM to 512MB
