No research has been done on this as far as I know to date. However, a lot of things affect how we parent. Mostly, it seems to be severe changes that dominate how we parent, a child that has been a difficult birth needing neo natal care, or a child who was conceived after years of trying will tend to be parented in a softer way than a child conceived eaily and born without complication. Also, from what I have observed, there tends to be a level of friction between parent and child when the father and mother have split, stemming from guilt this can lead to problems in later childhood/adolesence

No. I don't think parents do. But having worked in day cares/ early headstart program I know for a fact that cuter babies/kids get treated alot better.... not that they get treated very well in t hose places but not so cute kids don't get held as much, are left crying more, etc... so sad :(

parents getting mad is not related to the looks of the child. in fact, most parents getting angry at babies is not even remotely the babies doing - it is entirely a shortcoming in the parent. what can a baby do that could possibly generate anger - cry? poop in a diaper? drop a bottle? no, anger at those things is not the babies fault.

One would hope not, but the fact is that research has shown that cute babies and children are treated better by *everyone*--parents, teachers, other kids, etc. Kind of sad, isn't it?!

All babies are cute especially if they are your own. It is an inherit defense mechanism. They are also androgynous. They look like boys and girls.

yeah, mine is so cute (in my eyes even though i get a lot of coments) that when he does something wrong or touches something he shouldnt (hes a yr. old) i cant help but just laugh. he gives me those puppy dog eyes and they let him get away with everything. or he tries to talk when i fuss at him, its just so cute.

Parents shouldn't be gettin mad at babies full stop and if they do tey don't deserve them.
