Seriously, what's the deal? Are America's schools failing this badly at teaching students proper spelling and grammar?

I'm very disappointed that no one pointed out my own grammatical error.

Well, while the question of how well the education system is preforming is a main concern today. By the way, there are more complex issues behind the schools.

You have to remember this, people don't come to answers to spell or grammer check, they come here to answer questions. Many type quickly to get there ideas out and try to get to new questions, so they don't take time to spell checj or structure correctly.

Also, we arn't here looking for proper langugue use, we want to have fun and socialize, answering questions and shareing ideas, so proper grammer isn't a big deal to many of us, just the few who would reather complain about the spelling then answer the questions at hand.

The poor grammer is becouse this isn't a grammer aria, so many just don't care.

Going to the school system, teachers try there best to teach, but with unfunding, overcrowding, and lack of parental support at home, many studnets don't get the full advantage of the school system which tries to do it's best wilt the limited resources. And "No Child Leff Behind" isn't helping.

It's because of the advancement in technology. The students just rely on computers. They could easily research and submit projects or copy and just paste from an article on the net in an instant without understanding it. Before it's manual and the students are attentive to the teachers so they are familiar with the correct spellings and proper grammar usage.

I was thinking the exact same thing yesterday. Some of the questions and answers are so bad that you can't even understand what they are trying to say. It is really sad. There was actually an article on Yahoo News a couple weeks ago talking about how text messaging is changing our langauge.

I know for myself I type at 65 wpm and sometimes I miss an error or two. As for the grammar, well I wish I had an answer. I think it is because of laziness.

I think it is due to text messaging. We are now starting to write like when we are text messaging someone. Everyone who text message try to make things short like "u" for "you", and "2" for "to" or "too". "Text message" is soon becoming a verb in our lingo like "I'm text messaging my friend" or "Text message me". English teachers have to contend with what future sociologists may call this the "text messaging" generation.
