When that phrase came out, it used to be that it was "man" who got everything good, and you had to be a man to get what you want. Of course we all know that has changed, as women started playing a bigger role in society and were able to prove themselves at work and beyond. You dont hear that phrase as much anymore.

It's lyrics to an old James Brown Song. Why do they say it.. they don't, but before the 70's it was very frustrating for a woman to get ahead. They used to get paid 1/2 of what a man did, and were hired based on looks. It WAS a man's world... and in some cases that inertia makes it very hard for minorities and many woman to get ahead in certain situations.
Hopefully it will truly be a level playing field some day.. but until that day comes.. unfortunately there are many "man's world" situations still left.

Simple answer because men have balls. Men are go getters and get things done whilst women sit idolly by bitching about how shitty the world is or gossip all day.
In todays society things have changed from the past. From prehistory to now women were viewed as the downfall of man therefore were not equal with a man.

look at our history of leaders
a greater part of the popualtion where men as the leaders or the man of the house
its natural for a guy to always feel that way.
