as im about to join a college soon,so can u advice me a mobile to buy which is not has too hefty amount but its worth it.

Then you'll need the Sony Ericsson K700i. Its not that pricy, plus it has many useful features. Voice Recording, VGA camera with flash, video recorder, mp3 player and "also" a radio fm player. But the problem is I wouldn't know the price cause I am in Indonesia and here the price is probably like more or less US$100. Don't know if that is too pricy or not, so you decide.
