I'm asking because i have a friend there but haven't been able to get in touch with him. Are people leaving the city or staying longer to see what happens?

Members of my family were in Lebanon for the summer... they left yesterday through Syria... I was so worried, they had a miserable time. Our embassy sent buses to pick them up... I guess all foreigners who are there for vacation are leaving.

Not from Lebanon, but i have heard this.

Beirut airport has been shutdown due to the air strikes and militant attacks from israeli forces.

As a result, most tourists and citizens of lebanon are fleeing the country in a mass exodus, and heading into syria. Syria has lowered their border "rules", in order to help with this exodus.

well.. i am not from lebanon, i am from saudi arabia, but i do have a relative and a friend in Beirut, they say the situation is not that dangerous, and they're not scared, they also say they are far from what's going on. so that's all i can say about their situation.
