"learn how to spell." how retarded do you have to be to actually write this as an answer, i see it in almost every question i ask. if thats the best you can do, dont even answer.

"learn to spell, punctuate and learn some grammar" Why would you write that, expesiouly to answer this perticular question.

it gets even worse, as Yahoo Answers features a "check Spelling" option, so if people are answering "learn how to spell", then the poor fool is doubly dumb

I can appreciate that you find the answer annoying. I suggest the reason people say it is an attempt to bring to your attention that your spelling and grammar could do with improving (just click the Check Spelling link... you don't have to be a genius to use a spell check). Poor spelling and grammar (in a written forum) give the impression of not being very intelligent. Most people think that if you can't do basics like use a spell checker, capitalize "I" and the first word of a sentence, and use the correct punctuation (all mistakes you've made here) then you're unlikely to be able to understand their response anyway.
That said, I understand how annoying it is to have a smart-*** response to a question, so regardless of how appalling the asker's spelling or grammar may be, I always try to answer the question anyway.
So, that is my answer. Though I suspect you were looking for people to just agree with you than actually give you an answer.

That answer does kind of bug me, mostly because the people who can't spell, at this point, probably aren't going to learn. I admit though, I've been tempted to put that in some of my answers. I try not to answer questions that are horribly misspelled.

They probably wrote that out of the frustration they feel when considering how many people out there, even you, who's spelling and grammar skills are wretched, despite ever-improving "checkers."

Well, actually it is annoying, probably the intentions are not that bad. There will be a nicer way to tell you that you didn't write something correctly.
