I don't know what everybody is on about here, it was a blatant dive and it cheated the Aussies out of at least another 30 minutes in the World cup, I'm English and I'm absolutely disgusted with the way the game is going, European teams are now playing like the South Americans used to, where they spend more time rolling around on the floor trying to get people sent off than they do playing football. Come on for Gods sake its meant to be a mans game they should stop playing like girls. And as for the people who answered this question saying that it was OK for him to dive your idiots.

You anti-Italian cry baby. It wasn't a dive and even the English commentator said it was a penalty kick. Also the Red card to Materazzi which clearly shouldn't have happened. Italy was reduced to 10 men for the whole second half what about that? Oh that ok for you anti-italian cry baby

2 dives in that game and they both changed the game. Australian player dived to get a card for the Italian player and to gain a freekick.
Italian played dived for the PK.
Poetic justice.

why you are jealous?
do you think if australia would beat italy ,she would be the champions
it was not a dive what you are considering.
it was merely a fair play and nothing more.
it is useless to cry over split milk.

It was clever thinking on the feet but yes, it was a brilliantly simulated trip. The situation was perfect, an invitation to garner a penalty decision. Lucas Neill went to ground a wee bit too early presenting his entire body for Fabio Grosso to fall over - stuff that makes champions!!!
