Might help to carry it. In a sling if it's young, or a papoose-style backpack if it's older.

first check to make sure the baby isn't hungry or dirty. depending on the baby's age they could be teething, maybe the baby has colic, or is just tired. there's several soothing techniques you can try such as rocking the baby to slow music, gently singing, walk around with the baby and point out things in a soft voice like "see the pretty chandelier" etc....sometimes they just want attention but they don't know what kind or what exactly they want....also maybe the baby is constipated. there's tons of reasons why and you must determine that first before you can figure out how to soothe them. whatever you do, when you feel at your wits end and the baby is crying you can leave them in a safe place like a crib or playpen for 10 or 15 minutes while you vent. as i always say, no one ever died from crying.

Get Dr. Karp's DVD called "The Happiest Baby on the Block." I've had two VERY fussy babies, and it's really a lifesaver. It's also known as the "cuddle cure." I got the book too, but I would recommend the DVD because it shows you exactly how to swaddle and rock your baby so he'll calm down right away. It's really the best thing that helped me and my girlfriends. I recommend it to ANYONE with a fussy baby.

get some baby oil and massage all his body for at least half an hour then dress him up and put a blanket around him and give him a warm bottle of milk this should put him to sleep for hours, if this doesnt work try baby music , or if your worried see a doctor.

Pacifer :-)
I don't know if that will work, but my mom said it helped.
Oh, and maybe you can play some games while you have it on your lap.
