Castrol oil helps me drive to the labour ward faster by keeping the car engine in good order.

You can buy it at pretty much any drugstore (Eckerds, CVS, Walgreens, Walmart). It doesn't work. I drank it at the end of both pregnancies, and you'll spend a lot of time on the toilet, but that will probably be all you'll get from it. And it tastes horrible. If you're stuck on trying it for yourself, I found that putting it in some kind of soda (I used Coke and root beer) really helped. The carbonation and strong flavor of the soda helped to cut through the oily, nasty taste. My advice is just to be patient. The Castor oil will just make you miserable. The baby will come when its ready. Good luck!

What ever you do, DON'T TAKE CASTOR OIL!!!!! It causes severe cramping of the stomach and bowels, will cause diarrhea and possible vomiting. It can cause the baby to have a bowel movement, called Meconium, which can lead to breathing problems, eye infections, and possible complications during delivery. I wouldn't do anything to start labor until you are at full term anyways. Anything before 38 weeks is dangerous and very bad for the baby and you. Trust me, you don't want to have the baby too soon.

Many years ago I saw castor oil used in inducing labor. Of course it caused severe diarrhea and increases cramping of bowel and hopefully the uterus. It did work on occasion after the diarrhea started a matter of a few hours. It used to be available in drug stores. I would not recommend it.

I don't recommend this. It will give you cramps and make you run to the bathroom and be very uncomfortable. It *might* bring on labor or it *might* just make you very uncomfortable. It can also cause baby to have his first bowel movement in the womb, which is bad.

Why are you in a hurry to have your baby? Your body and your baby will know when it is time. If you're uncomfortable, go get a massage or see a chiropractor to try to get your body in balance and ready for labor. Unless you're trying to avoid a threatened medical induction, let things progress on their own.

Talk to your caregiver before you do anything to try to induce labor on your own.
