It's been around for over 50 years and was the first "fast food" restaurant.
Marketing of course came into it, and became more famous as the standard (to which others measured themselves) as others quickly followed.

Personally, I like McDonald's food. But to answer your question it's so popular because of all the advertising. Everywhere you go you see billboards for McDonald's, it's on tv, radio, internet, everywhere.

Because it's cheap and easy. Kids will die for McDonald's, parents will do anything to keep kids quiet when they're hungry. There's a McDonald's at every highway exit.

jus cause u dont like it dont mean it's not good.
it's fast to cook and easy to eat (most the meals are). u kno, the guy who created McDonalds went to my school like over 50 years ago- he's dead now.

Because even though their food does suck and sadly fat people keep running back to it on there own accord Mc Donald's is also famous for helping children. In my opinion thanks to ignorant parents that continuously feed their children this garbage they are famous for hurting children as well. Take your pick.

Consistency....a big mac tastes the same in Argentina, or mexico or Greece or The philipines.
Yes, the food isnt that good, but its always the same, you can depend on it anywhere, and its fast and cheap

It has already build a brand name for itself. When we talk about fastfood outlet. Mac is the first store that comes into our mind. Just like mp3 player, the apple ipod.
