We still do owe an obsene amount to the US, which has increased due to two world wars and our little spat with the Argies back in the eighties.

As much as I would like the UK government to tell the Bush administration to indulge in a sex act whilst travelling at the same time, I cannot see this happening.

The US pays its debts? far as I'm aware, the US invades a country and nicks its natural resources whenever their economy starts flagging.

War on terror. More like the search for more money.

"United States President Woodrow Wilson declared a U.S. policy of absolute neutrality, an official stance that would last until 1917 when Germany's policy of unrestricted submarine warfare - which seriously threatened America's commercial shipping (which was in any event almost entirely directed towards the Allies led by Britain and France) - forced the U.S. to finally enter the war on 6 April 1917."

The US didn't officially get involved until near the end of the war. It was the Commonwealth nations (Canada, Australia, New Zealand, India) that won the war for Britain, not the US.

Why dont you get a clean physician? And by asking your rfile for a counseller, you receives it for loose Your debts die with you, except you've a mandatory different (of any variety, acquaintances relatives lover) that you've took out a private loan or personal loan, then they wil might want to end it for you the authorities will spend years attempting to get others (relatives)to pay your debts, letters vacationing etc. My spouse has suffered from sever melancholy for 10 years now and that i have been there supportin her (so muh that a have grew to develop into depressed, tho mild) so i comprehend what form of belongings you've been by (suffering) Its genuinely got here across by googling 'debts death with you uk', you receives will a good number of effects had to envision it coz my dad kicked the bucket a pair months in the past and he had some debt. Killing your self isn't the answer, theres continuously something who will bypass over you and prob cause them to depressed. You dont even choose a counseller, search for chatrooms with human beings in similar difficulty and talk to them.

The US National Debt currently stands at $8,419,633,317,827 (or $28,149 for each of it's 299,107,561 citizens.

Any payment by the UK for debts from WW1 wouldn't really change the fact that you should research a few facts before making statements like, "At least the US pays it's debts".

I personally feel that the US should compensate the UK for killing more UK soldiers through "friendly fire" than our so-called enemies have managed to.

The present US trigger-happy foriegn policy seems to be making up for the fact that they were late for the last 2 World Wars. Seems they really want to be punctual for the next one.... even if it means starting it themselves......

The US has the biggest debt out of all the world countries....

The UK pay back its debts from 1919? come on, who's still alive to worry about that? give it up, I could probably pay it back to you now, what is it 50 shillings??

I think it's the US who owe us a huge debt for winning world war 2!!

You are right! But a better question is , why can't ( or why haven't) ANY country the USA has given money to repaid us? And of course, with the crummy schools in the USA, broken roads, dependence on foreign oil, etc, why does the USA continue to give billions away when we really need it to stay here and solve some of OUR problems.

Would you like to come back and add the source for the assertion that the debt hasn't been paid, please?

I think the grounds for the question are unjustified.

I'll take it from that your question is just a prejudiced propaganda with no basis in reality, then.

Well, you see, Europe at this point in 2006 is essentially a socialist state, therefore the normal rules of economics do not apply to them. The strong support the weak and debts do not get paid. Its classic.

'the UK is our best friend' Ik Weet Niets! ? Doesn't sound like the questioner thinks much of us....but doesn't sound like the questioner thinks much at all.

I agree, let it go. It's crass questions like this (from both sides of the pond) that constantly undermine any chance of a friendly relationship our two nations might have. I'm talking real people here, not just politicians.

Go scratch your itch elsewhere, youranidiot. Bad spelling (couldn't resist that one) but aptly named!
