Heat some water with honey and lemon added. That works great! Suck on hard candy...don't bite it...fight the temptation. I know you asked about natural, but the best thing in the drug store for a bad cough is "Father John's." IT IS SO GROSS!!!! It contains, I think Castor Oil, but it does the trick almost instantly and usually COMPLETELY. I do not know whether or not plain castor oil works, consequently.
Feel better!!!

The only cough syrup I've used that works is a homeopathic one, most health food stores carry it, also I take Mullein, it's available in a capsule, it makes your cough productive. The body makes you cough when there is something in the lungs that it wants out, if you help make it productive, then the coughing stops.

Cough is not a disease, it is result of our badd habits and misconcepts.
Eating without hunger, no eating when hungry but doing so afterwards, overeating and oily, sweet and milk products produce cough.
Avoid fatty and sweet food and milk or milk products. Steamed pulses reduce cough and salads help the action.

It isn't a cure but will lessen the coughing. Peppermint - hard candies -you know the red and white swirly ones.

If you can't find peppermint then try another hard candy, but peppermint is an old wives tale. We use it in our house all the time.

none, its usualy prevention that works best. Smoking, second-hand smoking, walking in a polluted area, beathing in exhausts (by mistakes), that can cause coughing. Of course it might be a cold, which is a virus, to which there is no cure (kinda like HIV except that it doesnt kill you), your body just needs to fight it off.

If it is a dry hacking cough, try Umeboshi Plum. you can get it in a health food store. Put some on your finger, then put in on the tip of your tongue. I think that's how you do it.
