Well, Woodchucks can chuck around 35 cubic feet of dirt in the course of digging a burrow. So in reason if a woodchuck could chuck 35 cubic feet of dirt he could chuck an equivalence of 700 pounds of wood. In a more logical sense I believe that if the woodchuck chucked the amount of wood that she sells seashells on the seashore divided by how many pickles Peter Piper picks would give us the true answer.

There are two other questions to consider for your disseration thesis.
How much wood would a woodchuck chuck, if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
Even if the woodchuck could chuck wood, would a woodchuck really chuck wood?
--I think pmbrundle74's response indicates that, these other two questions are the primary existential questions for the 21st century woodchuck.
2006 is way beyond could and all about would. :)
(I also think this is the best question I have read on answers.yahoo.com)

Don't be foolish - it is a moot thesis, as the will to "chuck" is absent or immeasurable. Therefore, the thesis would be inadmissable.
However, if you are just having fun, here is the answer:
The average woodchuck weighs 16 pounds. Assuming it could chuck wood, it could probably chuck 1/3 of it's body weight.
If a woodchuck could chuck wood the woodchuck could chuck about 5.333 pounds!

Considering the evolved woodchuck of this century---would the woodchuck chuck wood? I think not---due to the forest fires and human depletion of trees...i think Mr. Woodchuck would be chucking something else. Good Luck!

If this is the kind of question that people who are working on PHD"s/ thesis are seeking answers for, then I will possibly reconsider my degree. I cannot believe this question. Since in most cases, the student has the authority to select his/herown work and your advisor must agree with your selection, there must be a very good reason behind it. Also, if you have come this far with research and the knowledge of gathering valuable information then I am sure you know exactly where and how to get the details you are looking for. There are plenty of websites that you can keystroke -woodchuck and get going. I sure would love to know how you plan to use Woodchuck information in the near future with a DOCTORATE DEGREE. And I am so very serious.

zip...woodchucks can't chuck wood...not possible. They are burrowing animals, they use their teeth for breaking roots and digging. Good luck writing a thesis. Here's an idea....write a thesis about how many times people have asked this question on this site....sorta like "which came first the chicken or the egg?"
