Being of Scottish ancestry but considering myself entirely a Yorkshireman. I can see both sides of the fence.

For those that don't live there or whose only contact is on holiday or the bloke they knew at work/ college/ pub etc. As I work out of Scotlands East coast now. Over the years I've worked all over the world

I've met and worked with loads of Scottish people over the last 13 yrs or so. and I hate to burst anyones bubble but to be really honest I'd have to say at 90% of the Scottish guys I work with are so anti-English they're almost paranoid. I've never met a more biggoted scope of people as you'll find on the West coast of Scotland. Running around moaning about England going on and on about the 1966 world cup and a lot are sporting tattoo's saying remember 1690 some battle or other. I don't particulaly like football but surely 40 yrs as opposed to some 326 yrs. I mean get over it.

As for a Scottish PM.

I've never understood how if an issue only relates to Scotland only scottish MP's are allowed to have a vote. but if it's something that only applies to England scottish mp's are still allowed to vote. Typical Labour double standards. By the way I didn't vote for the tory's or lib dems either. They are all as bad as each other. Labour's just proved the old adage about absolute power corrupting absolutely

do they have a thing about the english? Some of them might do. Many English are racist! You have oddballs in all nationalities! I am Welsh and married to an English woman no problem. Nationality doesn't come into our relationship, in an adverse way, it is just part of our identity. What is English anyway? The people that live in a geographical area called England sharing a common culture. A scot as PM why not Gordon Brown and David Cameron are both scottish? If someone is too patriotic it becomes chauvanism and is a type of insanity and the last refuge of the scoundrel.

Because of the past history. The English committed near-genocide on the Scots in the past. They nearly eradicated the Scottish traditions, no piping, no kilts, they did their best to break up the clans. They forcefully relocated large portions of the Scots in order to subjugate them. They hated the highlanders and did their best to eradicate them. Any wonder the Scots have a "thing" about the English?

The English tried to destroy the Scots and failed , As a result the Scots are a proud & strong people and i personally think a proud & strong PM is what this country needs .

The Scots did very well out of the Act of Union. Relative to the size of its population Scotland is the best represented of the nations that make up the United Kingdom. On top of that they have their own national parliament; something England does not have.

I think that it is highly likely that Gordan Brown will become Prime Minister some time soon.

Why not...the country is Great Britain. Scotland , Wales and Ireland are not English colonies. Your very question is one of the reasons Scots have a problem with the English

Don't know why Scottish hate the English. The Union Act was beneficial to Scotland. We do have a Scottish Prime Minister. Blair is a very Scottish name.
