keep playing

I think in your question, you are implying that Materazzi did say insulting things about Zidane's mother & sister. Actually that's still an open issue. Coz Materazzi has denied it outright, and Zidane won't give any specifics.

But if Materrazzi did say those horrible things, i would still have walked away. Coz i knew them to be lies. I think that would have been even more insulting to the perpetrator. By reacting i would only be adding "weight" to the insults. By walking away, i would be "telling" him that his gesture wasn't worth even a glance from me.

I've seen Ronaldo just walk away from complaining opponents. The only emotions you see him display, if at all, are happy ones or at the most a frown for missing. Now THAT's cool headed-ness. Definitely a more sensible approach.

Keep playing. People always trash talk regardless of the sport or specific event. Zidane should have been mature enough to know better. I'm sick of people making Zidane out to be the victim. Zidane and Materazzi both have histories. Zidane has headbutted players before and Materazzi isn't exactly known for being the nicest player on the field.

I would have ignored his insults and keep my cool. Hit him where it hurts the most. Play and die in the field. I would have scored the goals or pass the ball to score the goals and win the cup. Had he done that, the game would have ended differently.

I would have done a bloody powerful shot and the ball hit Materazzi and the ball flies with him into the goal then I wouldn't get a card and have scored a goal!!

It's easy for us to say what we would have done in that situation in the comfort of our homes or wherever we are now.The best thing would be to keep playing but I don't know if I would have been able to do that.

It's easy for us to say "I would have walked", cause we weren't in his position. But under pressure, playing the most important game of his life, while being insulted by a stupid, disrespectful player...i understand his gesture. He cracked! i don't agree with him, but I understand him...

zidaane is an idiot. im sure materazi was probably saying something nasty... but you cant do that to another player and let your team and whole country down by commiting a stupid foul and getting kicked out of that important of a game.
