I met an immigrant with a scarred face and asked what happened.
He worked as a cleaner at a factory. Heard a hissing sound from one of the gas pipes. They (with his fellow immigrant workers) decided to investigate. The technician / security personnel wasn't informed.
One of them had an idea - they could isolate the source of leak with a simple solution.
Thet used a cigarette lighter. The rest was history.
