I don't know about the USA, but Quebec is forever threatening to leave Canada. I say...let them go...they'll ask to get back in eventually and if they don't, we're probably better off without them anyway. Does it really matter? It's like...do you really want to be with a boyfriend who really does not want to be with you? Maybe my thoughts are too simplistic.

No, actually, I haven't even heard before that Vermont does this. I have heard for years that California SHOULD, because it truly is an entirely separate entity from the rest of the U.S., but no, I haven't heard of any states that actually talk about this possibility on a regular basis.

I think its ridiculous and no, do not believe that you should. Does the discussion consider joining another country, like Canada? Or is the plan to become a sovereign nation? I just don't think you could make a realistic go of it, honestly. And this is not even calling into play all the issues concerning how the American national government would look at the whole thing.

If Vermont believes that their viewpoints are so much in contrast with what the rest of America or the central government believes, then that is the exact reason why they are so valuable to our nation as a whole. We thrive on this kind of diversity, it is what keeps us honest and on our toes.

Stick around.

If they did.....they would get an *** kickin from the US military as it is against the Constitution to secede. Actually if Vermont did I don't think anyone would notice....but I can't think of any other state that says they are......northern california keeps saying they want to be a seperate state.....Key West succeded back in the 80's and then declared war against the US and surrendered at the same time....kinda funny story.

The south tried that many years ago and Abe Lincoln took them to the woodshed.
