I have a skunk that is living under my shed. Where I live, to have a shed, it cant set on the ground. It has to be temporary or something. So, we cant close it off. I have two small children and I dont even let them play out because of the skunk. I know they can carry rabies and if it might have babies, maybe it could get mean and harm them or spray them. I called and we have no animal control in our area. Any ideas on how to get rid of this thing?Cant catch it in a live trap without getting sprayed. It comes out and acts like it owns the place.

You have to make the area under the shed less inviting. Dust all the way around the shed with the hottest ground pepper you can find. Wet old rags with ammonia and put them under the shed. The idea is to make the area under the shed uncomfortable and uninviting for the skunk.

You can wrap a live trap in a trashbag or other cloth and leave the entry open so the skunk can get in. When the animal is trapped, very quietly approach the trap from the closed end and carefully pull a trashbag over the other end (the pest will be less likely to spray as they don't like that smell either). Gently carry the trap to a remote area (at least 5 miles from your home) slip off the trash bag that over the door of the trap, open the door and stand back. Sooner or later the critter will leave the trap.

We had a problem like that too. What worked for us was mothballs. Every animal that we've tried to repel (skunks, raccoon, possum) hate the smell. They'll move on. Use gloves, or stick your hand inside one of those plastic grocery bags and throw it away when you're done. Toss some mothballs under your shed. Wouldn't hurt to use lots! You really can't smell them unless you are really close...and compared to the skunks smell it really isn't that bad! You can stand way back if you have decent aim...which helps! Best of luck!

Go carefully inside the shed and shut the door. Stomp on the floor very loudly for a long time. Put a radio playing rock music in there. Repeat this until your skunk family moves on.

Use moth balls
Throw a couple handfuls under the shed periodically
it will get rid of just about anything, raccoons, squirrels, mice etc. I've used this personally in my attic and garage so I know it works.

FIRST YOU HAVE TO CLOSE IN 3/4 OF THE BOTTOM OF THE SHEAD SO IT CAN ONLY GET ON ONE SIDE THEN YOU HAVE TO CHASE OT OUT AND CLOSE IN THE OPEN SIDE.

Shoot it. We had to shoot them when they came in our yard.
