Its hard to say. There have been great players from both sides. Traditionally speaking...alot would say South America. But to be fair I would say the best of the best come from both continents. And the future lies with Asia and Africa.
Therefore I an unable to answer your question specifically.

Europeans rules this WC. Especially Brazil fails its chance, and as consequence actually Brazilian players rating are lower.
This WC enlighted football fans all over the world how tactics, team spirit and willingness could easily overcome any technical gap. Tactics rules this WC and tactical skills ever were the favorite European teams weapon to win a match. The best tactical fitted SA team was Argentina, and they bows only at a great Germany after a draw match.
This attitude lower technical skills and entertaining plays at lesser factors in the tournament. No one can doubt Brazil was a bunch of champions, but if your team:
1. Has no tactics
2. Is dangerously unbalanced having Kaka, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Adriano playing together, with only Emerson and Ze Roberto cover a weak defensive line. (I guess this line-up was crowd and press imposed, not the real choose of the coach)
3. Players perfectly knows this issue and they fear tactical opponents
The result could only be a disaster when playing against one real test opponent as France was.
I'm sure Ghanaians wouldn't choose a suicidal offside against Brazil it they had first watch France-Brazil match. And this means Ghana tactically failed against Brazil.
A bunch of champions without tactics and teams spirit creates entertaining football against weaker opponents (AUS, ***, CRO), but when facing a great opponent it should be better to leave the field and record a commercial.
This is the ultimate meaning of this WC (teams means more than a bunch of champions). Kaka, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Adriano are champions anyway. If Marcello Lippi was Brazil coach I guess they have had a longer journey.

There's good players that right now can be considered as the best in the world both in Europe and South America.
Brazil has always been a powerhouse, but their great champs just didn't work together as a team and they blew it.

I think the Europeans did better this time...altough south america had great players also with Brazils' Ronaldo and Ecuadors' Agustin DelGado!

I think if you made a world team the team will exist of for the half of south and north americans and the other half of europeans

Europeans are whizzards of football... S Americans are dancers masquerading as footballers. Africans can be great - poor discipline. Asia sick men of football - too much rice!!

After this years performance Europeans were better. Brazil were ***** but Argentina were good though.

2-France
