There are so many, most named so far are good but what about NOFX? or the Vandals? Face to Face, Goldfinger, F.F.O.C.

Out of the old school punk bands I would have to go with the Misfits.

I hope noone has an attack when I say this but I think the Pistols and the Ramones were overrated...GASP!

Sorry to all you 17 year old Hot Topic Punker/Emo kids, they were first, but the best...no way.

Long story longer, in my dumb opinion NOFX was and is the best.

Oh I almost forgot FUGAZI

I used to like Sham 69 a lot. They had a lot more going for them than most punk bands.

Sham 69 is good, but what about the Beastie Boys, or the Undertones?

Sex Pistols. The first "major" punk band that open the punk music scene for millions. "Never mind the Bollocks-Here's the Sex Pistols" is their best album.

It all depends on when you classify the "punk" era to be though. I consider it to have only been in the 70's, so my answer would be the Sex Pistols.

I still can't believe Blondie were ever classified as "punk".
