Moth balls are a known carcinogen. The fumes are dangerous to breathe.
It may be that the fumes have permeated the wood if the moth balls have been there a long time. Try taking the dresser outside into the sunshine for a few days. Spread the drawers out too so that they can have air & sunshine. Perhaps using a natural deoderizer like straight white vinegar & wiping the dresser down with it would help.

Maybe try putting a cup of baking soda (in a small jar/cup) in the dresser drawers and close it back up. That should absorb the odor.

Try putting a thin layer of kitty litter down in the drawers. It absorbs odor, right? Change it every few days and see if that helps. Best of luck.

Give it a light sanding with a fine grade sand paper, vacuum well and set in the sun for a few hours.
