the reason that the earth does not stop spining is simple to understand. the laws of physics state that an object im motion stays in motion. unless something with equal or greater mass interfears. which is called transfer of motion. surrounding the planet earth the only thing even near the size of planet earth is the moon. but it is only 1/4th the size of it anyway. so without resistance, what would stop the planet from spining?

The earth goes round because humans need to sleep. This is nature way of turning off the lights.

The moon doesnt turn around that why we are always looking at the same side of the moon. If you are on the moon, you have to chose to either live in darkness or light all the time.

The Earth rotates continously because of the gravitational pull made by the Sun.

Conservation of angular momentum.

However, Earth's rotation is slowing down. Every year, one revolution of the earth is taking 0.005s longer.

So, over eons, the earth should stop spinning by itself. This excluding the interference of other phenomena like meteor impacts, etc.

Inertia!
Newtons third law an object in rotation will tend to remain that way unless acted upon and external source

It's inertia , the sun is pulling the earth towards it by its massive gravity but the earth is resisting that so it keeps going , in addition to newtons FIRST law , but nobody knows from where did the earth get its first "push" ????!!!!!!!

Question back to you: why should the Earth stop spinning if there is nothing to slow it down?

p.s. actually, the Earth is slo-o-o-owly slowing down because of it's interaction with the moon and sun.
