This comes from the days of chivalry. It was perceived that the male shall get onto one knee and makes a proposal, which was met by the girl's father rendering a set amount cash reward.
In China, my wife and I needed to take special care, since she is Chinese and I am American. So, I proposed at a dinner. After the marriage, there was a celebrative marriage dinner. Her father then presented me with a wedding band in his daughter's stead. However, I honored her request to present her parents with a cash reward. Her wedding band is on her right hand and mine is on the left. I still see myself as a soldier of gallantry actions.

It's probably just because that's the way it's been done for thousands of years. In my case, my husband proposed to me, but I bought him an engagement ring to wear so other women would know he was off the market.

Men do not HAVE to propose, they get to. It is traditional for the man to ask. Women are taking matters into their own hands and will ask a man.

Some boys/men are intimidated by aggressive girls/women and will run quick when girls/women express their feelings. Females are taught to let the man take the lead, and males are taught to take the lead on a normal basis. You should always keep that open mind of yours, it's great!

The girl really works on you. You don't notice but she knows in every detail what is the next step you will take. If on the contrary were you who takes the initiative and she doesn't like you, she wouldn't give you any chance to start a talk about any kind of engagement

When I proposed I had to submit to her decision. This was after a couple of years of "wooing" her while dating. Why is there a tendency in men that once their women say, "yes," the men no longer try to woo their women or submit to their decisions? Once I re-instituted this attitude in my marriage, things got much better.

dont you get it? its totally obvious that most girls love their boyfriends to express their feelings to them by not just through words but through actions, in that Way they would really secure that the one they love also love them in return. Proposing to them is something that each one of us girls have been dreaming ever since we were young..................and it would totally beautiful if you propose to her in such a romantic way..........one advice to you is that its really important to propose and you should do it in a special or an unexpected situation that she would totally be surprised, be touched of how you express your love for her and really treasure the moment throughout her life
