i know this sounds bitter, but some people just flirt all for the sake of flirting. they don't care if they are being mean by "just" flirting. some flirting can open old wounds, because of the fact that they are just reminding the person of the past hurts. don't you think it's just too mean for people to consider it as fun?

That depends on your definintion of flirting. Personally I think flirting is the art of making somebody else feel attractive. So if done properly everybody walks away feeling a little better about themselves.

I guess i am forced to agree w/you on the flirting thing, but on the other hand most people are just having fun. if someone makes a question on how do you like my avitar ?
Most are going to say something like .."hey your cute" and yes we are talking about a cartoon avitar, so there is a little harmless play involved.
Now to relate to your open wound question, then yes i can say that some people just don't care about other people's feelings and say insultful things like, your an idiot.. or get a life .
The hardest thing in the world is to tell if someone is serious or playing around when it comes to typing text. let me give you an example of what i mean:
example: "Hey, are you nuts ?"
Now that can be taken two ways, i could have put a lol (laugh out loud) letter's behind it, so you know i was joking around.
Or i could have been saying that with a firm tone of voice, but you would never known that unless i wrote it like this:
"HEY, ARE YOU NUTS?" !!
What i'm trying to say is that when it comes to text typing, it would help if people would just let the other person know if they were joking or serious. So people out there if your reading this..
If your just kidding aroung let the person know by putting in a lol , to say your laughing out loud, or a j/k...Wich means "just kidding"
And if your flirting around , just be considerate of the persons question and don't be so blunt.

Maybe people confuse being friendly with being sexual. There's a big difference. I guess that some social norms allow a certain type of promiscuitous nature in their interactions, calling it "modern." Maybe because the whole world can participate on Answers at the same time, people from more repressed cultures are taking liberties by using forms of expression that are "fast forward." They don't realize that cliche come-ons are just that: cliche--foundationless. Sorry that you're having this kind of experience.

In this forum, I have to agree with you. This is to be a Question and Answer forum where we can all ask those burning questions that have been plauging us, and offer our advise, expertise and opinions in a professional manner. Would you flirt with your 60 year codger of a boss? Treat us with the courtesy and hopefully respect that you would show the old dude that you would never be attracted to in a physical way.
If not, don't flirt here as it is just as inappropriate. If you want to flirt go to chat room, that is what they are for!

I believe that peopel flirt because they have had their past experiences where they were serious and the other person who seemed to be serious was just flirtign with them. People still need relationships so they just stop carign too much as they are hurt dep inside. but if they find someone who really loves them and cares they might end up loving that person and marrying them.

I'll say I love to flirt. But however I don't like the fact that even tho some ppl flirt, they do hit sore spots in my past. But hey nobody knows what another's past entails. Unless you follow their blog, now ur avatar is cute, care to find out bout my past? LOL

yes and no ....flirting can change the way people view them self .if they are getting flirted with they may feel good about them self and if there not they my think somethings wrong with them.it is a thin fuzzy line . if one is going to flirt they should be careful not to mislead or hurt anyone.

You are right! Sometimes it can seem troublesome more than fun and interesting but it is just a part of life that we all go through! I guess we must learn to live with it my friend.

if someobdy is single and not dating anyone then it is perfictly fine to flirt with them if they want something to come of it. so if it opens old wounds then maybe they shouldnt be out where people would flirt with them.

not really, flirting is fun. if it's causing problems, say so. most people will stop - if they don't that should give a very good clue into their character.
