"Yatra Naryastu Pujyante Ramante Tatra Devata" : an old sanskrit saying meaning Gods prefer to reside where women are worshiped. It makes me sad to see that we Indians who were the FIRST to propagate this idea have lost it somewhere during the dark times of history. I think all men should respect women in all ways, physical, mental & emotional. This will only make our country a more beautiful & strong nation.

I think the question is unfair -- not all men are like this -- some men are respectful and some men aren't -- it has more to do with their values -- some men and women feel superior -- while others feel inferior. I do see your point though, but it's not just men. It's unfair to group everyone that fits a certain short criteria into a large all consuming group and say they are all alike -- especially if they only have a few things in common, while the majority differs.

You are confounding 2 things.
I do fully respect Women.
Men are not superior to Women.
Women are not superior to Men.
But......
Men and Women cannot ever be equal.
Since when would you expect a Man to be equal to a Woman in chidlbirth?
Will I ever get to breastfeed my Child?
Does that make a Woman superior to me?
No.
Men and Women are just different.
The difference is there for a very good reason.
Survival and Continuation of the Human Species.
It has taken a long time to develope the differnces between Females and Males.
Get over it and accept the scientific facts.
Women can do things a Man cannot do.
Men can do things that a Woman cannot do.
Doesn't make one superior to the other. Just different.

Because some men feel that Mothers, sisters, daughters are not real women because they are related. The next time you have a problem ask a man to look at you as one of them, see and hear the response. You will be surprise at what you hear. Ask him to explain the difference, let him know that you are someones daughter, sister, and someones Mother if that is the case. And should be treated as such, you should never accept anything less.

As others have written, there are plenty of exceptions to your overgeneralized observation. One not yet mentioned are those involving significant age differences (e.g. mother and son, grandfather and granddaughter).

In response to your second point, men and women can and should be equal in many ways.

As to why men who think they're superior do so, the best answer is long and complicated. Yes, it goes far back in history. We generally receive this presupposition from birth and react to it in a number of ways.

it all dates back to old days when men used to hunt for women whose only job was to give birth and cook food. Men have always been more physically and emotionally strong to provide for women who were totally dependent on men. However with the changing times women are being more dependent and hence they are taking on their own ;)

It seems you have not met right persons. If all men do not respect then there wold not be any happy couple. There won't be brother sister bonding. Daughters are always darling to Father. Similarly Sons are darling to mother.

Not all men never do these. It depends. Just collect and select the best man for you.

I think "never" is a strong word to use, like hate. I don't think all men act like that toward women. Perhaps you've met a greater percentage of such men than most?

Regarding men who disrespect women, some believe it's a cultural thing. A Canadian man I worked with, once told me North American women have it best, since the men there are most "enlightened." What brought up the discussion, was we noticed an Australian coworker liked being waited on by women. When we commented on this, the Japanese woman who was waiting on him said he was like most Japanese men this way.

I think how a man treats women depends on how he was raised. If his father showed his mother respect and helped her around the house, then the boy will grow into a man with a view of women as equals deserving of respect. If the boy sees his mother treated like a servant (or worse), the boy will view women as less than men. He will probably repeat the same cycle of behavior.
