The most likely cause is a urinary tract infection (e coli), that has moved from the anus to the urethra and has found a fertile home.
You probably are also having symptoms of itchiness, urgency to pee, and/or pain on peeing. Since you have a few days before seeing the doctor, you may want to go to your local health food store and get golden seal root capsules, and cranberry capsules. This may help you get started on knocking down the infection. My health food store lady also suggested black cherry extract capsules to help prevent future infection.
The doctor will prescribe an antibiotic, and may prescribe something that turns your urine a bright orange/yellow for a while, to relieve the immediate symptoms.
UTI is a common occurance in women, especially those who are sedentary (sit alot). On the antibiotics, it takes about 10 days, and another urine test to get rid of it.
You should be concerned, but not scared, if the blood in the urine is your only symptom. If you are having any other symptoms, you may wish to go to the emergency room, as blood in the urine may mean other, less common things.

I just love when you ask one of these questions and get responded to with alarmists. This has happened to me several times, I turned out fine despite all the gloom and doom.
This sound like a urinary tract infection. You need antibiodics for it. A little blood in urine always looks like alot. Take your temp. If it is high and yuo don'tr want to wait for the doctor, goto ER. No they won't throw you in the hospital. They'll just take a urine sample and give you the appropriate antibiodic

First, CALM DOWN!!! Second, if you do have blood in your urine, you may have a kidney stone. BUT DON'T WORRY!!! gO TO YOUR NEAREST Natural Health Store and ask if they have anything for your kidney stone. If the doctors give you a prescription, don't take it. It only masks the symptoms, it doesn't cure the problem.

It depends on your age. If you are menopausal, your vaginal lining (tissue) is most likely "thinning" out. If your mid to lower back hurts along with it, it's either a kidney infection or kidney stone.
See a doctor before it gets worse.

If you see blood in your urine, go see a urologist. This is called UTI (urinary tract infection). It can get serious if not taken care of. If you want to see a urologist, talk to your doctor and s/he can recommend one for you.
Good luck.
