I do not think cannabis should be decriminalised. I think it should attract harsher sentences. The reason is that research has shown some people are sensitive to it and it really changes their minds permanently and so it needs to be restricted. I know a lot of people will argue that it causes no psychological harm, but that is just plain factually incorrect. And I would ask you to think whether, knowing what we know now, would you have legalised tobacco if it was only discovered recently - same goes for alcolhol. My answer - no!

Research is showing more and more the relationship between cannabis and mental illness particular schizophrenia.

It leads many onto other worse drugs.

It is smoked and we already know the risk of cancer from smoking and with the extra chemicals being burned in cannabis this is probably a greater risk.

Even one joint has been shown to serious effect judgement when driving.

It will not be long before before the roadside cannabis test will be brought in in most Western countries. Since it is believed many accidents are caused by people under the influence of drugs this can only be a good thing.

Cannabis stays in the blood for up to four days. The choice will soon be to either stop using cannabis or stop using a car.

Why? Think about the massive amount of tax revenue we could get if we charged 25$ a ounce in taxes and let people smoke weed all they wanted..

It would kill the gangs.. They would have no more revenue *other than crack* and think what the fedreal budget would look like with a spare 300 billion in it?

Shoot... I think we might want to decriminalise some other drugs too...

And I am not just saying that because I am Libertarian...

Nothing clears the bad guys away faster than a meth addiction....
Dont even have to support capital punishment... But I wonder if it would be called assisted suicide to sell that crap...

I am a former law enforcement officer. Now I am a nurse. I have seen billions spent on fighting cannabis. I have also seen a small fraction of that spent on prevention. Honestly, the money spent on prevention has yielded a far larger return. Imagine if we took those billions and spent them on education instead. Our educational system could offer life skills classes to our youth. This is something that these days most children do not receive at home. Bush says we need to focus our children's attention on math and science in order to keep our technological and economical edge in the world. Spending billions on education can kill two birds with one stone. I'm not for decriminalization of cannabis just for not prosecuting. The difference is small i know but it is an effective deterrent when you teach children to respect the law of the land.

the purely possibility they could have of doing it somewhat isn't any possibility. i'm for decriminalising maximum drugs, providing people take them interior the confort of theirs or their friends houses. i'd also make heroin accessible on the NHS, with rooms to shoot up and help and suggestion for those desirous to kick the habit. the money kept from policing it will be spent on rehab clinics. the project with decriminalising hashish is that their are this style of large style of countless strains of it, some are reliable sufficient to reason hallucinations and maximum are theory to reason psychological subject matters, quite with lengthy time period use. That being suggested, we promote alcohol that motives a techniques more suitable damage.

Legalizing dope wouldn't change crime rates cause you see, things would level themselves out because yes it would be legal so people couldn't get arrested but then again it's addictive so maybe people would get real desperate if you know what I mean. But it also depends to what point it's legalized... I wouldn't recommend it except for maybe medical remedies but yeah wouldn't oppose it either it all comes down to a personal point of view!!! Keep in mind it doesn't have the same amount of potency it had 30 years ago. Instead the potency is worst so yeah that comes into factor!!!

we should make it legal for medical use. this has helped alot of people with cancer, aids,ms just to name a few. how has alcohol helped people? shot the liver and you see them in the streets. the only reason they won't make it legal is that there is no money in it for the rich. it has great health value and that study was done overseas in England and the us says there is not enough researched on it, hey get real, from the 60's to now is not enough. no one has died from cannabis, but many from legal alcohol.get your facts, this doesn't change your mind permanently,ck the london univ study out. also it is legal overseas in alot of countries and no harm has arose out of there usage

Cannibals? I agree!

I'm just kidding. I disagree.

First, pass more extensive laws for longer sentences for crimes associated with cannabis, then decriminalize it. Same effect, but aimed at actual crime, not a private choice. Same with alcohol. Get rid of the drinking drunk law, but raise the price so high that no one does it.

I think if people used in small amounts thats ok and yes let people do what they enjoy.I would rather b in a club with people stoned, then people pissed up and wanting to fight each other. But there is the downside to many people paraniod, lazy at work ,depression and brain problems. What you do to your body is your lookout and you should be able to do as you damn please.legalize it why not,the world is messed up enough let people chill out .
