no...you dont need an extra hardware(it's called tv tunner) but you may need some programs. i have in my computer about 10 programs for this job. here are some names: Videowebgate, ORB, Internet TV Player, Free Webstream, I-screen EC, Online TV Player, TVTonic. also you need a high speed connection

There are several p2p programs you can use to view movies and football, if you go to www.asiaplate.com you will find the appropiate programs there, asiaplate is a sports website but the programs available for download have lots of channels. PPLIVE is the one i used but it may be down at present due to the football season not being on yet, but it was a great program, i watched the hit tv show lost, football, movies, music etc... give it a try, give them all i try i'm sure at least one of the programs available for download will be showing lots of different tv programs.

There are lots of sites where you can pay for internet tv. Heres some free ones...
http://peekvid.com/
http://www.tvover.net/TVStation.aspx
http://beelinetv.com/
http://wwitv.com/portal.htm
http://www.channelchooser.com/
There is lots of electronics available for internet tv...DVR's, remote controls, capture cards, big screens and projectors but you won't need additional equipment unless you have an older computer that is too slow for video or an older slower flatscreen.
If you have cable tv service, its pretty easy to install a capture card to watch and record on your computer. Accessory cards are also available to feed your picture to a regular tv or an extra monitor.
