Its all lovey dovey before a couple gets married to the extent of shutting out each other's faults, imperfections, with the misconception that " he or she will change after marriage.
Most fights that occur are due to financial problems, stress at work and when both refuse to give in and both insisting on having the last say. Third parties are also the reason for fights and sad to say most end up in divorce.
Disagreement in methods of bringing up children is another factor..
Some husbands can't accept the fact that their once upon a time shapely girlfriends have become lumps of flabs as they add years to their ages. They will find fault with their wives and call them fat and even to the extent of stating that sex will be the last thing on their minds just by looking at their bodies.. They will then look for excuses to start affairs. Fights will then happen when the wives find out.
Couples must learn to give and take and show each other respect. Fights are common in marriages, but need to be controlled to prevent them from getting out of hand.

It happens when the man usually start losing their ego and their authority as the man of the house is being threatened.

I dont wish to generalize but men do not like for their women to overpower them in any circumstances. They do not like to be treated like boys. So, when these instances happen, men will start showing their aggressiveness and so-called "fights" will occur. Women on the other hand are more liberal these days and want equal rights and will not stand any "talk down" by their men. So, when women voiced their opinions that are opposing to the men, the so-called "fights" will occur too.

Hence, both parties will start to be distant and for whatever reasons there may be, leads to divorce when communication is no longer the essence to strengthen the bond as the years go by...

You just get too used to one another and there is a tendancy to take each other for granted. Sometimes you can't even talk it out. Recognise that the sexes are different and try to understand the other person's point of view. Always offer the olive branch first, but when a marrige is really over, time to move on.

I think that the longer people live together the less they talk. Busy with jobs, house and children has taken away their time together. Communication seems to die which is the most important part of any relationship. People need to slow their lives down and take special time out for themselves.

You are being taken for granted because you have already become his. Maintain a little distance. Do not be so dependant on him. Be assertive and do not need to be compromising always.. That way you can still retain a little self-esteem.

Marriage takes work just like anything else. We just expect that it is going to be carefree after time and get lazy.
