The nation of Israel, ever since it's formation has been fighting for its very survival. Israel is surrounded to the north, south, and east by enemies who want all Israelis to be annihilated. The Six Day War and The Yom Kippur War are just two examples of this.
Israel has never been the aggressor in any of these conflicts, yet the world always seems to condemn them. Lebanon has launched over 300 rockets deep into Israel, thanks to the fact that they gave up Gaza, which was supposed to bring peace. Israel is just defending it self from terrorism, much like we're defending ourselves from terrorism, which they have every right to do.
Personally, I don't think that we're giving enough support to Israel, they are our one, true ally in the Middle-East and I believe that we should commit our full military might behind them.

Nonsense. During the Suez Canal crisis, we actually chased off several allies out of Egypt, despite most of the world criticizing us for not siding with our allies against Egypt for nationalizing (read that as: "stealing") the canal.
Your comments are a lie. However, the idea that we would side with Islam in a time when Islamic people are cheering in the streets at the pain and suffering in our country after 9/11 is insane. YOU'VE chosen your side. So have most of us.
This lie doesn't stand up to a little research. Everyone, check it out, both sides.

Because the Arabs surrounding Israel will not recognize its right to exist, will not stop trying to kill Israelis by engaging in acts of terrorism. Until Arabs give up on destroying Israel, I think we are going to keep supporting it.
In the current situation, the war would not be happening but for the acts of terrorist groups Hamas and Hezbollah.
Arabs have this remarkable ability to look at one fact taken out of context and to ignore everything else--whether Israel is reacting to the kidnappings of its soldiers or not is really not relevant, the kidnappings are just the latest in a series of assaults against Israel--you seem to conveniently overlook all the suicide bombers and the fact that the Palestinians regularly lob bombs over the border into Israel...this while Israel has given up land that it won in the 1967 war--land the Palestinians never owned (it belonged to Jordan)..yet the Palestinians never even changed their constitution to recognize that Israel has a right to exist--looks to me that the Palestinians want it all and want to give up nothing....that's not compromise and that's not working for peace....
My thinking is if you dont' want peace, then you are getting what you deserve.

I think it started when Golda Meir, elected Israeli prime minister in 1969, made sure to cement a friendship with the USA... I forget all the details, but ever since then, Israel has seen the US as a powerful ally, and the US has looked on Israel as on of their middle-east assets...neither wants to lose the other. Check it out on google, or in the library.

Because it's the right thing to do. It's the perennially war-mongering, mischief-making states - Syria, Iran that are chiefly responsible for the 'warring' situation in the Mid East. Hezbollah, Hamas are their tools and they commit atrocities and violence against the Israelis who are justly defending themselves. The good will rightly come to the defence of Israel.

Because tthe U.S. needs as many allies in the Middle East as possible. So far, Israel is the only country willing to play that game. As a result, the U.S. turns a blind eye to a lot of Israel's critical flaws.
