Go to different News sources other than your local news (although you'll want to know that as well) I get my local paper online and read the top 3 stories regarding national and world events and a couple of local stories before I go to work. It really takes about 15 minutes to read all of that. Then watch CNN or some other all news station. Then if you're really serious, listen to talk radio. It's very right slanted, but whatever your political preference, you will either agree wholeheartedly, or be enraged at what they're saying. Either emotion is good, because you're learning new things and forming opinions based on your basic beliefs.

The only true way people can be informed about the outside world is to read the news daily... I read yahoo news every day. It beats paying for a newspaper.

You could always read books other than the newspapers. For those who get bored by news in the print media can always subscribe to the papers online. And also, try reading news papers from other countries, it helps you to have a wider perspective of political issues.

You cannot rely on one source. Although some sources are far better then others. For example, if someone says they read Yahoo news to get their worldly information you will find them sorely lacking on perspective.
You can get the headlines from anywhere, you need to learn your history and the history of the areas in the news to gain perspective.

read and listen. take in as much info from different news companies and countries as is possible. Then you will have a little bit of an idea about the truth of what all is happening.
its never a good idea to get your information from just one source.

You can only be........................a smart, intersting, goodlooking intellectual by knowing and keeping a tab on things happenning in and around you. Your emotions and sentiments should always be prompt enough to judge the situations and time to take the best decisions. Then only can you be a...............................someone.
