The union of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu, incarnated as Mohini the enchantress, resulted in the birth of Lord Ayyappa or Hariharputhra. Shiva and Vishnu left the baby on the banks of the river Pampa and returned to their heavenly abode. Rajashekara, the childless King of Pandalam, spotted the baby lying helpless while he was out on a hunt. He and the queen accepted the baby as a gift from the Heavens. Since the baby was wearing a golden bell around his neck they decided to call him Manikantan.
The divine boy was brought up in a manner befitting a prince. In a short period of time the boy mastered all lessons. His teacher was extremely happy at the achievements of his disciple and at the same time realized the boy’s divine power. At the time of accepting his fees the teacher refused to accept any material benefits. He requested Manikantan to bless his son who was both blind and deaf. The dutiful disciple with his miraculous touch restored the boy’s sight and speech.

The devine unity of lord maha shiva and vishnu (as mohini) led to a birth of a baby boy named Shree Dharma saastha. Grown up as the second son of shiva. He has been crowned as Bhoothaganadhipathi.And got married to Poorna pushkala.his son name ayyan.. in roder to kill mahishi lord shree Dharma saastha has become Ayyappa (A baby boy) and was left near the banks of Pampa by lord shiva and vishnu. King Rajashekara who was child less found Ayyappa when he was out for a hunt near the banks of pampa. And named the baby As Manikanta as he was found with a neckalace in his neck. Pandhala Rani who was the divotee of lord vishnu asumed that manikantan was gods gifted son to them.. Manikantan was bought up as prince by the lovable royal parents.. By the age of 12 he has completed all studies in gurukulam. he has blessed his teachers son with sight and speech who was deaf and dumb as guru dakshana!! On the other hand Pandhala raja and rani decided to make Manikantan as king for pandhalam.. meanwhile Indhra cast a spell on pandhala rani which bought her a severe head ache.. Indhra changed himself as Asthaana Vydhya( doctor) And told to king rajashekara that the head ache is not going to cure until and unless medicine is taken with tigress milk. Seeing the mothers pain manikantan left to jungle to bring tiger milk...
