The only way that an virus software can pass from one computer to other is storing their data (or program code) in the computer memory devices, but there's a difference: in Ram (radom access memory) the data is freed when the computer/user don't need it any more; for instance: when computer is turned off, all data in the ram is freed and you can use any ram from any computer securily. In other memory devices, the data is never freed (but only with the computer/user instructions) and this is always keep stored, and you must to beware when you use memory devices, from other computers, like:
- Hard Drives.
- Compact Disks.
- DVD.
- Floppy Disks.
- Usb sticks.
- Flash Memory Devices.

Other components ( cd-rom drives, floppy drives, printers, etc.) can not store data by themselves and it's impossible to transfer data through them without the helping of their memory component and they don't transfer data when they are turned off or unplugged

LOL! The virus is inside your hard disk. If you are not able to remove it, just format your had disk. You will need a Windows bootable CD. You will have to buy a new one, if your Windows to be original. Boot from the CD and follow instructions to format hard drive.

Viruses are just like softwares. They are located inside the hard disk and not in your components. LOL!

Man you seriusly need to upgrade your knowledge of computer viruses, or try to make some other jokes.
Computer viruses after passing by protection on your computer ( if you have any), write themselves on hard drive, and if you have not checked you HDD with new AV software ,they will load themselves back to memory when you start comp next morning.
ram and writer do not affect them in any direct way.
