You could compare and contrast the two expressions:

Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me

and

Word may not break bones, but they can break hearts.

1) The first implies you can say anything you want, words are not damaging. The second implies you cannot say whatever you want, the damage word wreak can be deep and permanent.

2) The first is usually said by the "named" to the "namer". The second would seem to be said by a "third party" to admonish the "namer".

3) The first is quite common, kids seem to pick it up with a week of attending kindergarten. The second is far less (and one might add "most unfortunately less") common.

4) You might want to run a Bartlett's Familiar Quotations search of the expressions and start off your essay with a history of the two expressions.

If you need an essay, then you need to write it.
If it's help you are wanting, then
on "break bones..." the issue is which is more powerful, physical injury to another or an injury to their soul, psyche, heart. Your thesis as stated is that the injury of words is greater than physical injury. State the thesis. Say why you agree.
Give an example (your librarian should be able to help you there) and then draw your conclusion with a "therefore" and a restatement of your original thesis.

Same for waste not want not.

The correct saying is "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me" or "Waste not, want not". They are pretty much self-explanatory.

You could do a play on words: St& stn will brk my bones, may brk my bones, can, won't brk b/c .... The only way words will not hurt you is if the person chokes on them instead of saying them!
