I have had many good ideas at night and I think it's because your mind is clear allowing your imagination to work with your logic.

I do

I experience this a lot since it takes me along time to sleep (not insomnia though)

I think about a lot of stuff, usually stuff that I did that day or stuff that I'm going to do the next day

sometimes I wander off into thoughts about certain memories and then I somehow think of ways in which the situation could have turned out differently

these thoughts will then be led to some other thoughts and then I will just come up with something

it's usually a picture that I would love to draw, a great research topic, a great way of spending the next saturday night, etc.

sometimes, I come up with poem verses that I just had to write,
by the end of the week I usually finish the whole poem

I guess the serenity and peacefulness of the whole thing (quiet and dark room, cool temperature because of the ac, warm blankets, and fluffy pillows) just puts us in a state wherein our mind freely wanders off

Yes, I am a hospice nurse so I get woke up a good bit in the middle of the night. Sometimes it's hard to go back to sleep so I will think about the next day or things I need to accomplish and the ideas come to me then. I think it's because it's so quiet, everyone else is asleep and the atmosphere is calm and peaceful, not the usual rush of the day. It allows for time to think uninterrupted.

certain and its worry-loose. save a bottle of water at your bedside and once you awaken take a drink or 2 and it would help. i have had to save water by my mattress the full being pregnant because I awaken and my throat hurts so undesirable because its dry. Even ingesting 8-10 glasses of water an afternoon (physician's orders) you receives dehydrated at nighttime because you at the prompt are not ingesting something and the infant continues to be taking the water from you.
