Not necessarily. Our cities were named for a particular reason, and there's a history behind it. Whether we like it or not, people in the past had particular, perhaps narcassic reasoning behind certain names. In India, the British colonized the subcontinent until well after World War II. The South Asian countries are now establishing names that instill pride in their country. It is a sovereign nation, why have names established by another?

BTW: some the Russian Federation returned to their names established before the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917. Some are finally sovereign and want to celebrate their sovereignty.

Absolutely not! I am against renaming of places because there is a Historical legacy of a place, that is the sense of place. The name of a place gives an idea of the History of the place. The people who lived there, ruled there, their architecture and so on. Now you cannot change History, then why change the name of the place? It's a part of History.
