many new games such as doom 3 come pre-installed with direct x 9.0c but i was,nt aware it had gne to d yet,but i dont play many games
if you go to http://www.download.com/2001-20_4-0.html?tag=hdrgif,and try downloading a few games,as most games will ask you at the end of installation if you want to install direct x

always they let you download the lastest directx.
