Through the lying of the media, people have conditioned to believing that the only way you can make something of yourself is to lie your way to the top. Lying is an act of fear, fear of discovery. A person does not want an aquaintance to discover that they are not perfect. This is because people in general have unrealistic expectations of their partners and associates. It is almost impossible for a person to take another person at face value. This is due to conditioning by the media. On television, in movies and in magazines we see these "perfect" types, that in reality cannot exist. This is the big draw of pornography---it show the human body in a form that does not occur naturally (makeup, computer inhancement, lighting, scenery). Because the vast majority of us know that people are generally phony we are reluctant to trust anything we see about them. Trust has to be earned, and when one little thing is discovered that is out of sync with what we have fashioned as our ideal mate or friend, then the bubble is burst and we are devistated. This is unrealistic expectation. It is all the work of the devil to keep us confused with delusions and illusions to our untimate destruction. the major cause of suicide is failed expectations. With Jesus christ there are no illusions---what you get is exactly what you see, which is the Son of God. Jesus loves you and he will never lie to you or mislead you. Trust in him and not the things of this world. The world is passing away, but Jesus is forever.

Suspicious Minds

People are looking at each other with suspicious minds. They are prejudging one another.

Relationships are based on honesty, trust, and caring. If you find people dishonest or distrustful then you can avoid caring for them. You can isolate yourself, become stand offish.

I don't know where you are or why it seems this way where you are but it only takes one person with the heart to look past first appearances to change the whole mood of the social environment you are in. There are many such people. They are the ones who always seem to be the life of the party. They come in and everyone is a batter person while they are around. I know such people. I suggest you go look for one.

Like I said a big heart. If your first thought is to care for one another, your second thought will be to trust one another, and your thid thought will be to be honest with one another. It works that way.

You won't like this answer, but it's what I believe to be the case.
The biggest factor, as I see it, is that we have debunked the Bible. Look at the 10 commandments--love God, love your neighbor as yourself (short form). There is no other source in the world which gives us that set of ethics, normally called Judeo-Christian ethics. And America has by and large spent of lot of time de-bunking the Bible. Schools teach relative ethics instead. The Bible teaches absolute ethics. The Bible creates a rock to stand on and act from and requires of us truthfulness, integrity, compassion, faithfulness. Relative ethics is like trying to build an ethical system on quicksand. And the nature of man is selfishness, ever since the first sin. If you debunk the Bible and God you wind up with the situation you speak of today.

i really admire lil kids because in all their innocence and naivety, they open up to others easily. some can play happily wif strangers at the playgrd. they are sincere in their frenships and this enables them to form close bonds of trust amongst one another. as for adults, when we meet new people, in some cases, there is a tinge of apprehension and doubt. trust? it has to be built. wad if you stab a knife in my back tomorrow? and even if dere is trust, there is no 100%? when you lose something very very precious (something that has kept you moving in life thru life's storms and rainbows), will you quietly wait for it to come back to you, believe that something better will come along or learn to live life without it despite the aching pain in ur heart?

WE ARE BROUGHT UP TAUGHT NOT TO TRUST ANYONE AND THE OLDER WE GET THE MORE WE SEE IT IN LIFE. IN RELATIONSHIPS, IT IS OFTEN HARD TO TRUST AGAIN WHEN SOMEONE HURTS YOU, IN THE WORK PLACE, PEOPLE ARE WILLING TO STAB YOU IN THE BACK TO GET AHEAD. WE LIVE IN A DIFFERENT WORLD THAN YEARS AGO. I KNOW GRANDPARENTS ALWAYS SAY THEY NEVER HAD TO LOCK THEIR DOORS AND NO ONE CAME IN. NOW EVEN IF YOU HAVE YOUR DOORS LOCKED, PEOPLE BREAK IN. THE WORLD IS A CHANGED PLACE AND IT IS GETTING HARDER AND HARDER TO TRUST PEOPLE. IT IS HARD TO FIND A LIFE PARTNER THAT IS TRUTHFUL BECAUSE SO MANY PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO HIDE STUFF THAT IN THE LONG RUN COMES OUT ANYWAY.

Because they've been deceived before as well. Maybe it's been around since the beginning of time. However, I believe that there are still true people out there.
