u cant disconnect emotions perminantely coz we are not buddha or jesus. we are people packed with emotions. when u r in tense sitivation
1. quit that place immediately.
2. Drink a glass of water.
3. Count from 10-1 in the reverse order slowly.
4. close ur eyes and pray.
5. close ur eyes and think abt something wonderful which, where, whom u like most

I guess there is no way to disconnect your emotions. The only thing you can do is to always plan for the worse. Actually this is what we do in life, we just prepare for the unknown surprises of the future.
Remember, we get tense due to one of the following reasons:
1- Your brain (logic) can't accept something.
2- Your heart (emotions) can't accept something.
In both cases, we need to control ourselves.
Remember, you don't need to be tense for things outside your span of control, its a waste of time and it leads nowhere.
If what is making you tense is within your span of control and you can't fix it, then it is a problem and you'll be more pressured until you really analyze it and plan for the solution.

Try to step away from the situation and look at it from the outside. It may help some, but there is no way to protect yourself 100 %

Wow, I wish I knew!!! I did recently learn that if you're ever in a situation that makes you feel like crying, (sad movie, graduation, weddings...) if you sip water everytime you feel tears threaten, you CAN'T cry. I can't wait to try this!
