I was induced with both of my children. From the start of induction to the cry of the baby was 6 hours for the 1st and 4.5 hours for the second. Good Luck

well, the first is usually the longest. Ask your mom, (or whoever you have the female body type from in your family) how long their labor was. This will give you a more accurate look into how long it will be for you.

There also some pregnancy exercise videos out on the market that will show you to exercise certain muscles that will help with labor. I am not going to scare you will how long my labors have taken. But keep exercising during prego. Start slowly if you don't. This will keep your body strong and keep your endurance up during labor.

This is going to sound gross, but it is true. When you are pushing the baby out, use your pooping muscles, those are the same muscles you use for labor. I went through 2 hours just to try and crown my first one before I tried those muscles because nothing else was working. Finally I started to use those, and the nurses all yelled "Yes, that is how" I wish they would have told me that earlier, it would have made my labor shorter.

congratulations! Blessed Be.

Try not to let other peoples horror stories scare you. Some feel pain worse than others. Some people have a almost pain free labor. I was in labor for two days. I was induced but was having complications. I wouldn't dialate right away. Once they upped my pitocin, I asked for a epidural, and after that I had no pain until it ran out and I had to wait for another dose. Pushing wasn't bad. I did three sets of pushes and he was out. barely felt a thing.
Good luck and don't worry. Afterwards you'll probably be like, "Thats it?! wow!" I know I was and I was scared as hell.

Ussualy fist timers are between 8-10 hours, but could be even less.It is very helpful if you walk every day at least 45 minutes it helped me.For first time I went to hospital and dilated to 9cm in two hours but ended up having ceaser because Christina was breech.Second time contractoins started at home realy fast and in half an hour I was in a hospital and dilated to 7cm but mistake I asked for epidural so the whole labor lasted for 8 hours because I could not push(ofcourse when your paralyzed from waist down for hours)you do not feel anything. So we planing for third baby so hopefuly third time lucky and no epidural for good pushing(for me) and to you I wish quick labor and very beautiful and healthy baby

I've had three babies, all naturally occuring unmedicated births.

My first labor was about 18 hours long, start to finish, including about 45 mins of pushing.

My second was only about 4 hours long, start to finish, including around 15 mins of pushing.

My third was only about 6 hours long with just a few minutes of pushing.

Drinking red raspberry leaf tea (RRLT) during pregnancy can help to strengthen your uterus and make your contractions more productive.

You an use evening primrose oil (EPO) capsules to help ripen your cervix in the final weeks of pregnancy. Take 2 capsules each night and put them up around your cervix before you go to bed. You can stick the whole thing in and let it disolve or you can puncture them with a pin and squirt the oil out and rub it onto your cervix.

Both of those things may help your body be more prepared for labor and go quicker.

Also, consider seeing a chiropractor and/or a massage therapist to keep your body in balance during your pregnancy. This can help make your pregnancy more comfortable, shorten your labor and help teach you to relax better during labor.

1st one 28hrs but my baby was 10lbs, 2nd one all up 12hrs she was 8lbs and 3rd one 6hrs and he was 7lbs 10oz.

Everyone is different, just try and relax I know it is hard believe me the first one was like shitting a brick, but I was going to be brave and have no pain killers then after 3 hrs of intense labour I took everything they could give me, when I finally did give birth the drugs were just starting to wear off so it was not to bad and had no lasting effect on my son, (he is now 17)

Definitely ask your mom, as someone already listed as it will give you a closer examination as to how long yours MIGHT be. My first one was about 19 hours, but, my sister in law her first one was about 4-5, so, just depends.
Don't worry about it, do your lamaze, and breathe. That helped me the best with my last one. I listened to the nurse, and just did the lamaze breathing she was telling me to do (so, I wouldn't push right at that moment), and I just kept doing the breathing, and out she came without pushing. It was the easier of the two births I did. (Mind you it was hard to keep the breathing up as she instructed, but, you put your mind on the breathing, and not the pushing, and it worked for me.)

My labor was 17 hours. I was trying to go natural. Got an epidural after 10 hours. It was tough, but not NEARLY as tough as being a new mom...the first six weeks or more are brutal. don't worry about the labor, it's just a few hours of pain...the real hardship comes after delivery. good luck!

the most painfull, YET awesome moment in my life !
i was induced, and the contractions started very quickly with 10 minutes apart, then five and then two-- that is not so hard, but the birth was actually undescribeable - so much pain when the baby is in the birth canal - they say you inow when to push -it is not realy so - you do not know! Just listen and stay calm during this time, and try to work with the dr- they tell you thousands of woman went through it- yea? but at that moment YOU are going through it - it was very painfull, but realy worth it ! i was in labout ten hours. The most significant moment in my life/ God bless

26 hours. It wouldn't have been that long but when they gave me the epidural, I stopped contracting and stopped dialating. They had to take it away and I ended up having him natural. He was 8 lbs 6 oz. Truthfully, I thought it hurt worse when they put the epidural in than the labor itself.
