to preserve their energy! they absorb the sun's energy and then store it and preserve it so that when they cannot find water or food they can still survive by calculating moves.

I don't know what lizards you're watching, but the ones I've seen are usually fast. A lot depends on how warm they are. Cold blooded creatures like lizards will move slower when they are cold and faster when they are warm.

Lizards walk by creating vacum between paws and surface. They have very big bodies in comparison to their legs.

Well, I find lizards slow when they don't move.
Otherwise, I don't find them slow. Try to catch one.

Around here they're not so slow, some are down right scary when they run, especially if its a Goanna chasing you through the bush, not very nice!

So you will know when they are running. We have lizards called 'mountain boomers' and they are very fast!

usually are slow when they are low on energy, since they are cold-blooded they rely on the sun for engery, no sun, they tend to slow down. maybe they are just busy stalking their next meal!
