If I understand your question correctly, you put the Koi somewhere that had not previously had fish and now that water is cloudy. If that is what happened, it is normal. Until bacteria builds up (there is good and bad bacteria) it will remain cloudy or get worse. After a little while, it will clear up. The same thing happens when people set up new aquariums. Once they add the fish, it becomes cloudy for a few days.

I'll ask my bf when he wakes up. He and his dad are really good at keeping their koi pond clean.

So um, don't really have an answer right now. I would assume bad circulation in the tank..but I don't really know much about ponds. I'm basically just answering so it will be easier for me to find this question later.

sounds to me like an ammonia spike. did you have to replace all of the water?if you did you may have lost your ammonia consuming bacteria.if so try adding some cycle* to the pond(follow instructions on the bottle).
if it is an algae bloom the water will have a green tint. if so try adding a u.v. sterilizer.
