Why do people answer questions that they are incorrect about?

Ok this is starting to bother me alot..someone in response to the question "is a chicken egg a single cell.....said no and also stated that birds dont have sex, the male fertilises the eggs after they come out. How could anyone believe this when they went to school? Also one I just read was Do birds have penises? most people said no when in truth some birds do(not all) albeit differently formed than a humans penis but still a penis.One girl said and I quote "nope birds reporduce with their mouths somehow , actually that may be just chickens (but im pretty sure it goes for all birds)" WTF!!! how can anybody be that ignorant??? Seriously How? We all go to school how is it that some people learn nothing?

To your answer below it isnt frustrating me it is bothering me in the sense that I feel sorry for these people going through life blind deaf and dumb and I think that school obviously isnt teaching anyone F all anymore if people can actually believe this stuff, The true facts are learned in school and most of the statements can be easily discredited with common sense. Also I did not ask why you think I shouldnt let it bother me that was not my question so seriously stick to the question I asked and stop commenting on what makes me wrong or critical for bringing it up.

Not sure if you are aware, but 23% of Americans (as of 2004, I am not sure of the current rates) can only read well enough to identify basic places, things or fill out a bank deposit but aren't even skilled enough to fill out a job application.

Another, 12% can't read at all. So, hmm, 35% of Americans are slightly uneducated to say the least.

So when you ask, "We all go to school how is it that some people learn nothing?"

If you can't read you can't learn much. You really don't want to see the rates for education level. They're just as ugly. Good luck finding an educated answer...... Maybe you should start using multiple guess, oooops, I meant multiple choice.

because they can and if you are asking the question you dont know the answer anyway of all the answers you get to pick the one you like let dumb lead dumber if he wants to follow hell how smart is george bush intelligence has nothing to do with anything these days they answered what they thought since you are so smart what happened to the alaskan pipeline oil we were supposed to be getting to make gas cheaper in the 70's make a donation on your tax forms whatever that oil is being sold to someone else after taxpayers paid for it and the school system is crappy everywhere i have been heres a good question how do you graduate high school and cant read ive seen that too

Hehe, because some people believe very stupid stuff. People just spit back out what they heard, without bothering to check if it is true or not. A good example of that is that we swallow a certain number of spiders in a year. That is one of the most commonly believed ideas about spiders now, but it was started as an example in a book about how people will believe anything (eg, if I said people swallow spiders, they will believe it). Well, they did.

That I guess is the root of alot of debate who is right who is wrong. Alot of people form their beliefs on half baked or totally incorrect facts. I guess the true of mark of intelligence is the ability to know you're wrong and to try and learn. However to some people this is impossible as their brains don't appear to have the capacity to do this. So, I guess in a forum as large as this it is always going to be the case!!! and you've got to try and just let it go past you and not bother you!

I advise you to remember that questions are being answered by other users, not said experts. It is up to the inquirer to sort through answers received and be selective about finding a true answer. In example, taking responses and researching them to determine accuracy.

People answer questions that they are incorrect about as they think that they are correct, so to them it is correct , but to another person it is not correct as they are probably correct, or so they think they are correct, but in fact the person who knows the answer to the question is quite likely to be correct, but dont quote me on it as you may never know I might not be correct!
